MDS KhanLex have advised on the deal that has been awarded “Asia Pacific Wind Deal of the Year” at the IJ Global Awards held in Singapore on 9 March 2017.
MDS KhanLex advised Clean Energy Asia and its two sponsors – Newcom and Softbank Group – on the development and financing for the construction of the 50MW Tsetsii Wind Farm in southern Mongolia. It also marks the first power generation business in Mongolia for SoftBank Group.
Commenting on the award, Mr. Enkhbat Batsukh who led the MDS KhanLex team advising on this transaction said “The award serves as the recognition of the importance of the deal not only for our clients, but also for our country, Mongolia, underpowered, yet abundant in renewable resources. We are also happy that the award recognizes our firm’s energy work thus far. We sincerely thank our clients for their trust to allow us to assist with this complex deal”.
Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, member firm of Baker & McKenzie in Singapore, acted as the international counsel on the Tsetsii Wind Farm Deal.
